॥प्रणव की महिमा॥
प्रणव अर्थात ॐ। मकरान्त प्रणव का उच्चारण मन की शुद्धि करने वाला होता है। समाधि के उद्देश्य से अगर करना चाहे तो मानसिक जप का विधान है। अन्य सभी समय उपांशु जप ही करना चाहिए। नाद और बिन्दु से युक्त ओंकार अर्थात ॐ के उच्चारण को विद्वान पुरुष “समानप्रणव” कहते हैं।
॥पञ्चाक्षर शिवाय नम: अथवा नमः शिवाय की महिमा॥
जो कर्मकाण्ड से अपनी आजीविका चलाते है उन्हें ”ब्राह्मण” कहा गया है। उनके लिए के लिए आदि में प्रणव से युक्त पंचाक्षर मंत्र अच्छा बताया गया है। अर्थात “ॐ शिवाय नम:” बताया गया है। यहाँ प्रणव के होते हुए भी के मंत्र षडाक्षर न रहकर पंचाक्षर माना जायेगा।
ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय और वैश्य पुरुष जिनका उपनयन हुआ हो एवं कर्मकाण्ड से अपना जीवन नहीं चलाकर अपनी आजीविका अन्य मार्ग से प्राप्त करते हो उन्हें ”द्विज” कहा गया है। द्विजों के लिए “नमः शिवाय” के उच्चारण का विधान है।
ब्राह्मण, क्षत्रिय और वैश्य पुरुष जिनका उपनयन नहीं हुआ और शूद्र पुरुष जो उपनयन से वंचित है एवं कर्मकाण्ड से अपना जीवन नहीं चलाकर अपनी आजीविका अन्य मार्ग से प्राप्त करते हो उन्हें “द्विजेतर” कहा गया है। द्विजेतरों के लिए अन्त में नमः पद के प्रयोग की विधि है अर्थात् वे “शिवाय नम:” मंत्र का उच्चारण करें।
स्त्रियों के लिए भी कहीं-कहीं विधिपूर्वक नमोऽन्त उच्चारण का ही विधान है अर्थात् वे भी ”शिवाय नम:” का ही जप करें। कोई-कोई ऋषि ब्राह्मण स्त्रियों के लिए नमः पूर्वक शिवाय के जप की अनुमति देते हैं अर्थात् वे “नमः शिवाय” का जप करें।
यदि प्रतिदिन आदरपूर्वक दस हजार पंचाक्षर मंत्र का जप किया जाए अथवा दोनों संध्याओं के समय एक-एक सहस्र का ही जप किया जाए तो उसे शिवपद की प्राप्ति कराने वाला समझना चाहिए।
पंचाक्षर मंत्र का एक, दो, तीन अथवा चार करोड़ का जप करने से क्रमशः ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, रुद्र तथा महेश्वर का पद प्राप्त होता है। पंचाक्षर मंत्र का पांच करोड़ जप करके मनुष्य भगवान् सदाशिव के समान हो जाता है।
यदि एक हजार दिनों में प्रतिदिन एक सहस्र जप के क्रम से पंचाक्षर मंत्र का दस लाख जप पूरा कर लिया जाए और प्रतिदिन ब्राह्मणों को भोजन कराया जाए तो उस मंत्र से अभीष्ट कार्य की सिद्धि होने लगती है।
॥शिव गायत्री मंत्र॥
ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे महादेवाय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्र: प्रचोदयात॥
यह शिव गायत्री मंत्र है, जिसका जप करने से मनुष्य का कल्याण संभव है। शिव गायत्री मंत्र का जप प्रत्येक सोमवार को करना चाहिए। शुक्ल पक्ष के किसी भी सोमवार से उपवास रखते हुए इस मंत्र का आरंभ करना चाहिए। श्रावण मास में सोमवार को शिव गायत्री मंत्र का जप विशेष शुभ फलदायी माना गया है। शिव गायत्री मंत्र का जप करके शिवलिंग पर गंगा जल, बेलपत्र, धतूरा, चंदन, धूप, फल, पुष्प आदि श्रद्धा भाव से अर्पित करने से शिव एवं शक्ति दोनों की ही कृपा मिलती है।
पवित्र भाव के साथ विधिपूर्वक शिव गायत्री मंत्र का जप करने से समस्त पापों का नाश हो जाता है।
अकाल मृत्यु तथा गम्भीर बीमारियों से मुक्ति के लिए शिव गायत्री मंत्र का प्रतिदिन एक माला जप अत्यंत ही शुभ है।
जिन जातकों की जन्म कुंडली में काल सर्प योग हो अथवा राहु, केतु या शनि ग्रह जीवन में पीड़ा दे रहे हों, उन्हें शिव गायत्री मंत्र का पाठ राहत देता है।
जीवन में सुख, समृद्धि, मानसिक शांति, यश, धनलाभ, पारिवारिक सुख आदि की प्राप्ति के लिए शिव गायत्री मंत्र अवश्य करें।
ब्राह्मणों को चाहिए कि वे प्रतिदिन प्रातःकाल एक हजार आठ बार गायत्री का जप करें। ऐसा करने पर गायत्री क्रमशः शिवपद प्रदान करने वाली होती हैं।
॥रूद्र गायत्री मंत्र॥
ॐ सर्वेश्वराय विद्महे शूलहस्ताय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्र: प्रचोदयात्॥
मंत्र का अर्थ है – हे सर्वेश्वर भगवान ! आपके हाथ में त्रिशूल है। मेरे जीवन में जो शूल है, कष्ट है। वो आपके कृपा से ही नष्ट होंगे। मैं आपकी शरण में हूँ।
घर में कोई बीमार है, या कोई कष्ट नष्ट ही नहीं हो रहा है तो दीक्षा में जो गुरुमंत्र मिला है उसका जप बढाये और सोमवार को घर के आसपास शिव मंदिर हो तो मंदिर में जाकर शिवलिंग पर बेलपत्र, फूल, दूध चढ़ा देना फिर दिया जलाकर रख देना और रूद्र गायत्री मंत्र बोलना चाहिए।
॥अन्यान्य मंत्रो की महिमा॥
वेदमंत्रों और वैदिक सूक्तों का भी नियमपूर्वक जप करना चाहिए। वेदों का पारायण भी शिवपद की प्राप्ति कराने वाला है, ऐसा जानना चाहिए।
किसी भी शिव मंत्र में अथवा किसी भी मंत्र में जितने अक्षर हैं, उनका पृथक-पृथक एक-एक लाख जप करें अथवा समस्त अक्षरों का एक साथ ही जितने अक्षर हों, उतने लाख जप करें। इस तरह के जप को शिवपद की प्राप्ति कराने वाला समझना चाहिए।
अन्यान्य जो बहुत से मंत्र हैं, उनके जितने अक्षर हों, उतने लाख जप करें। इस प्रकार जो यथाशक्ति जप करता है, वह क्रमश: शिवपद (मोक्ष) प्राप्त कर लेता है।
अपनी रुचि के अनुसार किसी एक मंत्र को अपनाकर मृत्युपर्यन्त प्रतिदिन उसका जप करना चाहिए अथवा ॐ मंत्र का प्रतिदिन एक सहस्र जप करना चाहिए। ऐसा करने पर भगवान् शिव की आज्ञा से सम्पूर्ण मनोरथों की सिद्धि होती है।
॥पुण्य कार्य॥
जो मनुष्य भगवान् शिव के लिए फुलवाड़ी या बगीचे आदि लगाता है तथा शिव के सेवाकार्य के लिए मन्दिर में झाड़ने-बुहारने आदि की व्यवस्था करता है, वह शिवपद प्राप्त कर लेता है।
जो शिव के क्षेत्र में अपने किसी मृत सम्बंधी का दाह, दशाह, मासिक श्राद्ध, सपिण्डीकरण या वार्षिक श्राद्ध करता है अथवा कभी भी शिव के क्षेत्र में अपने पितरों को पिण्ड देता है, वह सब पापों से मुक्त होकर अन्त में शिवपद पाता है।
शिव के क्षेत्र में सात, पांच, तीन या एक ही रात निवास करने से भी शिवपद की प्राप्ति होती है।
कामनापूर्वक अर्थात सङ्कल्प ले कर किए हुए अपने कर्म से भी मनुष्य अभीष्ट फल शीघ्र ही पा लेता है।
निष्काम भाव से किया हुआ सारा कर्म साक्षात् शिवपद की प्राप्ति कराने वाला होता है।
दिन (सूर्योदय से सूर्यास्त तक) के तीन विभाग होते हैं — प्रातः, मध्याह्न और सायाह्न। प्रात:काल को शास्त्रविहित नित्यकर्म के अनुष्ठान का समय जानना चाहिए, मध्याह्नकाल सकाम-कर्म के लिए उपयोगी है तथा सायंकाल शांति-कर्म के लिए परिवार के साथ उपयुक्त है–ऐसा जानना चाहिए।
रात्रि (सूर्यास्त से सूर्योदय तक) में भी समय का विभाजन किया गया है। रात के चार प्रहरों में से जो बीच के दो प्रहर हैं, उन्हें निशीथकाल कहा गया है। विशेषतः उसी काल में की हुई भगवान् शिव की पूजा अभीकष्ट फल देने वाली होती है। ऐसा जानकर कर्म करने वाला मनुष्य यथोक्त फल का भागी होता है।
||Glory of AUM | OM |ॐ||
Pranav means AUM (om). Pronunciation of Makaranta Pranav purifies the mind. If you want to do it for the purpose of Samadhi, there is a rule for mental chanting. At all other times Upanshu chanting should be done only. The pronunciation of AUM (om) i.e. AUM consisting of Naad and Bindu (ॐ) is called “Samaanpranav” by learned men.
||Glory of panchaakshar (five letters) Shivay Namah or Namah Shivay||
Those who earn their living through rituals are called “Brahmins”. For them, Panchakshar Mantra with Pranav in the beginning has been said to be good. That is, “Aum Shivay Namah” has been said. Here, despite the presence of Pranav, the mantra will be considered as Panchakshar (five letters) instead of Shadakshar (six letters).
Brahmin, Kshatriya and Vaishya men who have undergone Upanayana and do not earn their living through rituals and earn their livelihood through other means are called “Dwija”. For Dwijas, there is a rule to pronounce “Namah Shivay.”
Brahmin, Kshatriya and Vaishya men who did not undergo Upanayana and Shudra men who are deprived of Upanayana and do not lead their life through rituals and earn their livelihood through other means, are called “Dvijetar”. For Dwijetras, there is a method to use Namah Pad at the end i.e. they should pronounce the mantra “Shivaya Namah.”
For women too, at some places, there is a rule to chant “Shivaya Namah.” Some sages allow Brahmin women to chant “Namah Shivay.”
If ten thousand Panchakshar Mantras are chanted everyday or only one thousand is chanted at each sunrise and sunset everyday then it should be considered as the one who attains Shivapada.
By chanting the Panchakshar Mantra one, two, three or four crore times, one attains the siddhi of Brahma, Vishnu, Rudra and Maheshwar respectively. By chanting Panchakshar Mantra five crore times, a person becomes like Lord Sadashiva.
If in a thousand days, ten lakh chants of Panchakshar Mantra are completed in a sequence of one thousand chants everyday and food is offered to Brahmins every day, then the desired work starts getting accomplished with that mantra.
||Shiva Gayatri Mantra||
ॐ तत्पुरुषाय विद्महे महादेवाय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्र: प्रचोदयात॥
aum tatpurushaaya vidmahe mahadevaaya dheemahi tanno rudrah prachodayaat||
This is Shiva Gayatri Mantra, by chanting which human welfare is possible. Shiv Gayatri Mantra should be chanted every Monday. This mantra should be started while fasting from any Monday of Shukla Paksha. Chanting Shiv Gayatri Mantra on Monday in the month of Shravan is considered especially auspicious. By chanting Shiv Gayatri Mantra and offering Ganga water, Belpatra, Dhatura, sandalwood, incense, fruits, flowers etc. on Shivling with devotion, one gets the blessings of both Shiva and Shakti.
By chanting Shiv Gayatri Mantra methodically with sacred feelings, all sins are destroyed.
Chanting one rosary of Shiv Gayatri Mantra every day is very auspicious for getting rid of untimely death and serious diseases.
Recitation of Shiv Gayatri Mantra provides relief to those people who have Kaal Sarp Yog in their birth chart or the planets Rahu, Ketu or Saturn are causing pain in their life.
To attain happiness, prosperity, mental peace, fame, wealth, family happiness etc. in life, do recite Shiv Gayatri Mantra.
Brahmins should chant Gayatri one thousand and eight times every morning. By doing this, Gayatri is going to confer Shivapada respectively.
||Rudra Gayatri Mantra||
ॐ सर्वेश्वराय विद्महे शूलहस्ताय धीमहि तन्नो रुद्र: प्रचोदयात्॥
aum sarveshvaraay vidmahe shoolahastaaya dheemahi tanno rudrah prachodayaat||
If someone in the house is sick, or any problem is not getting resolved, then increase the chanting of the Guru Mantra received during initiation and on Monday, if there is a Shiva temple near the house, then go to the temple and offer bel leaves, flowers and milk on the Shivling and then light a lamp. Keep it aside and chant Rudra Gayatri Mantra.
The meaning of the mantra is – O Almighty God! You have a trident in your hand. The pain in my life is pain. They will be destroyed only by your grace. I am in your refuge.
||Glory of other mantras||
Veda mantras and Vedic hymns should also be chanted regularly. One should know that recitation of Vedas also leads to attainment of Shivapada.
In any Shiv Mantra or in any Mantra, chant one lakh letters each separately or chant all the letters together, as many lakh letters as there are. This type of chanting should be considered as one who attains the status of Lord Shiva.
There are many other mantras, chant as many lakhs of letters as there are. In this way, one who chants as per his capacity gradually attains Shivapad (salvation).
According to one’s interest, one should adopt one mantra and chant it daily till death or one should chant Om Mantra a thousand times daily. By doing this, with the permission of Lord Shiva, all the desires are fulfilled.
||Virtuous Work||
The person who plants a garden for Lord Shiva and makes arrangements for serving the temple etc. for the service of Shiva, attains the Shivapada.
One who performs the cremation of the dead relatives in the territory of Shiva temple or offers Shraddha to his ancestors within the territory of Shiva temple gets liberated from all the sins and attains the Shivpada in the end.
By staying in Shiva temple for seven, five, three or even one night, one attains Shivapada.
A personn gets the desired results by performing his actions with affirmation or resolution (Sankalpam).
Every work done selflessly leads to attaining the Shivpada.
There are three divisions of the daytime (sunrise to sunset) –— morning, midday and evening. Morning time is the time for performing daily rituals prescribed by the scriptures. Afternoon time is useful for fruitful work (profession). Evening time is suitable for attaining peace with family.
There are four divisions of the nighttime. Out of the four equal periods of the night (sunset to sunrise), the middle two periods are called Nishithkaal. Worship of Lord Shiva done during that period gives immediate results.
कुण्डलिनी जागृति, ध्यान एवं साधना के योग्य स्नान
आजकल अधिकतर लोग सुबह जल्दी नहा नहीं पाते और सूरज सर पर चढ़ने के बाद ही नहाते हैं। कई तो दोपहर को सूरज के प्रचंड रूप के आने के बाद ही नहाते हैं। कुछ महान आलसी लोग दोपहर ढल रही हो तब अथवा अब नहाना ही पड़ेगा तो शाम को या रात को नहाते है। अगर हां तो सावधान हो जाएं, क्योंकि आपके नहाने का ये समय आपको भारी पड़ सकता है। स्नान लोग अपनी सुविधा के अनुसार करते हैं, लेकिन समय के अनुसार किए गए स्नान का अलग-अलग फल मानव को प्राप्त होता है। शास्त्रों में ब्रह्म मुहुर्त के स्नान का बड़ा महत्व बतलाया गया है। मान्यता है कि स्थानिक सूर्योदय के ६० से १२० मिनट के पहले किया गया स्नान सर्वश्रेष्ठ होता है। उदाहरण के लिए मान लीजिए की स्थानिक सूर्योदय सुबह ६ बजे का है। तो सुबह 4 से 5 बजे के बीच का स्नान मुनि स्नान होता है, जिसे सर्वोत्तम माना गया है। इस स्नान को मुनि स्नान कहा गया है, क्योंकि इस समय ऋषि-मुनि स्नान कर ध्यान साधना करते हैं।स्नान कैसे करे
- स्नान करने के लिए सबसे पहले सिर पर पानी डालना चाहिए उसके बाद पूरे शरीर पर। ऐसा करने से शरीर की गर्मी पैरों के जरिए निकल जाती है।
- स्नान के समय मुंह में पानी भरकर आंखों को एक पानी से भरे हुए टब में बगैर पलक झपकाएं डूबो कर रखें| ऐसा करने से आंखों की रोशनी बढ़ती है।
- स्वच्छ और ताजे पानी से स्नान करने से शारीरिक शक्तियों के विकास के साथ आत्मिक बल की प्राप्ति होती है।
- सूर्योदय के पूर्व किए गए स्नान से देवी लक्ष्मी की कृपा मिलने के साथ त्वचा में निखार आने के साथ बुद्धि का तेज प्राप्त होता है।
स्नान के प्रकार
1. मन्त्र स्नान
अथर्ववेद में वर्णित ‘आपो हिष्ठा’ इत्यादि मन्त्रों से मार्जन करना।आपो हि ष्ठा मयोभुवस्ता न ऊर्जे दधातन। महे रणाथ चक्षसे॥१॥ अर्थ- हे जल, आपकी उपस्थिति के कारण, वातावरण बहुत ताज़ा है, और हमें जोश और शक्ति प्रदान करता है। हम आपका आदर करते हैं जो आपके शुद्ध सार से हमें प्रसन्न करते हैं।
यो वः शिवतमो रसस्तस्य भाजयतेह नः। उषतीरिव मातरः॥२॥ अर्थ- हे जल, तुम्हारा यह शुभ रस, कृपया हमारे साथ साझा करें। एक माँ की तरह जो (अपने बच्चों के साथ अपनी सर्वोत्तम संपत्ति साझा करने की) इच्छा रखती है।
तस्मा अरं गमाम वो यस्य क्षयाय जिन्वथ। आपो जनयथा च न:॥३॥ अर्थ- हे जल, जब तुम्हारा स्फूर्तिदायक सार कमजोरी से प्रभावित व्यक्ति के पास जाता है, तो वह उसे जीवंत कर देता है। हे जल, तुम हमारे जीवन का स्रोत हो।
शं नो देवीरभिष्टय आपो भवन्तु पीतये। शं योरभि स्रवन्तु नः॥४॥ अर्थ- हे जल, जब हम (जल) पीते हैं तो जिस शुभ दिव्यता की कामना की जाती है वह आपमें मौजूद रहे। जो शुभता है वह हममें प्रवाहित हो।
ईशाना वार्याणां क्षयन्तीश्चर्षणीनाम्। अपो याचामि भेषजम्॥५॥ अर्थ- हे जल, जल की दिव्यता कृषि भूमि में निवास करे। हे जल, मैं तुमसे (फसलों को) पोषण देने की विनती करता हूँ।
अप्सु मे सोमो अब्रवीदन्तर्विश्वानि भेषजा। अग्नि च विश्वशंभुवम्॥६॥ अर्थ- हे जल, सोमा ने मुझे बताया कि जल में विश्व की सभी औषधीय जड़ी-बूटियाँ मौजूद हैं। और अग्नि भी जो विश्व में शुभता लाती है।
आपः पृणीत भेषजं वरूथं तन्वेऽ मम। ज्योक्च सूर्यं दृशे॥७॥ अर्थ- हे जल, तू औषधीय जड़ी-बूटियों से भरपूर है; कृपया मेरे शरीर की रक्षा करें। जिससे मैं लंबे समय तक सूर्य को देख सकूं (अर्थात मेरी आयु लंबी हो)।
इदमापः प्र वहत यत्किं च दुरितं मयि। यद्वाहमभिदुद्रोह यद्वा शेप उतानृतम्॥८॥ अर्थ- हे जल, कृपया मुझमें जो भी दुष्ट प्रवृत्ति है उसे धो डालो। और मुझे भीतर से जलाने वाले विश्वासघातों और मेरे मन में मौजूद किसी भी झूठ को भी धो डालो।
आपो अद्यान्वचारिषं रसेन समगस्महि। पयस्वानग्न आ गहि तं मा सं सृज वर्चसा॥९॥ अर्थ- हे जल, आज मैं तेरे पास आया हूँ जो उत्तम रस से व्याप्त है। मैं आपमें गहराई से प्रवेश करता हूं (अर्थात स्नान करता हूं) जो अग्नि (अग्नि तत्व) से व्याप्त है; वह अग्नि मुझमें तेज उत्पन्न करे।
2. अग्नि स्नान अथवा भस्म स्नान
अग्नि की राख पूरे शरीर में लगाना भस्म स्नान कहा जाता है।3. भौम स्नान
पूरे शरीर में मिटटी लगाने को भौम स्नान कहते है।4. वायव्य स्नान
गाय के खुर की धूलि लगाने को वायव्य स्नान कहते है।5. मानसिक स्नान
आत्म चिन्तन करना एंव निम्न मन्त्र को पढ़कर अपने शरीर पर जल छिड़कने को मानसिक स्नान कहते है।”ॐ अपवित्र: पवित्रो वा सर्वावस्थां गतोऽपि वा। य: स्मरेत् पुण्डरीकाक्षं स बाह्याभ्यन्तर: शुचि:॥ अतिनीलघनश्यामम् नलिनायतलोचनम्। स्मरामि पुण्डरीकाक्षं तेन स्नातो भवाम्यहम्॥ ॐ पुण्डरीकाक्ष: पुनातु। ॐ पुण्डरीकाक्ष: पुनातु। ॐ पुण्डरीकाक्ष: पुनातु॥
6. वरूण स्नान

सुबह 6 से 8 बजे के बीच किया जाता है। मानव स्नान को समान्य माना गया है। जो व्यक्ति इस समय स्नान करता है उसे काम में सफलता मिलती है।4. राक्षसी स्नान
अंतिम स्नान राक्षसी स्नान होता है, जो आमतौर पर होने लगा है। सुबह 8 बजे के बाद किया गया स्नान इस श्रेणी में आता है। इस स्नान को धर्म में निषेध माना गया है। इस स्नान को करने से घर में गरीबी, हानि, कलेश और धन की हानि होती है।दैनिक और नियमित स्नान के लाभ

(देवता के प्राण जाग्रति करने अथर्वशीर्ष के पाठ का विधान है। हाथ में पुष्प लें कर अथर्वशीर्ष का पाठ करे और पाठ के पश्चात देवता को पुष्प अर्पण करें।)

साब्रवीत् – अहं ब्रह्मस्वरूपिणी। मत्तः प्रकृतिपुरुषात्मकं जगत्। शून्यं चाशून्यं च॥२॥
अहमानन्दानानन्दौ। अहं विज्ञानाविज्ञाने। अहं ब्रह्माब्रह्मणी वेदितव्ये। अहं पञ्चभूतान्यपञ्चभूतानि। अहमखिलं जगत्॥३॥
वेदोऽहमवेदोऽहम्। विद्याहमविद्याहम्। अजाहमनजाहम्। अधश्चोर्ध्वं च तिर्यक्चाहम्॥४॥
अहं रुद्रेभिर्वसुभिश्चरामि। अहमादित्यैरुत विश्वदेवैः। अहं मित्रावरुणावुभौ बिभर्मि। अहमिन्द्राग्नी अहमश्विनावुभौ॥५॥
अहं सोमं त्वष्टारं पूषणं भगं दधामि। अहं विष्णुमुरुक्रमं ब्रह्माणमुत प्रजापतिं दधामि॥६॥
अहं दधामि द्रविणं हविष्मतेसुप्राव्ये यजमानाय सुन्वते। अहं राष्ट्री सङ्गमनी वसूनांचिकितुषी प्रथमा यज्ञियानाम्। अहं सुवे पितरमस्य मूर्धन्ममयोनिरप्स्वन्तः समुद्रे। य एवं वेद। सदैवीं सम्पदमाप्नोति॥७॥
ते देवा अब्रुवन् – नमो देव्यै महादेव्यै शिवायै सततं नमः। नमः प्रकृत्यै भद्रायै नियताः प्रणताः स्म ताम्॥८॥
तामग्निवर्णां तपसा ज्वलन्तीं वैरोचनीं कर्मफलेषु जुष्टाम्। दुर्गां देवीं शरणं प्रपद्यामहेऽसुरान्नाशयित्र्यै ते नमः॥९॥
देवीं वाचमजनयन्त देवास्तां विश्वरूपाः पशवो वदन्ति। सा नो मन्द्रेषमूर्जं दुहाना धेनुर्वागस्मानुप सुष्टुतैतु॥१०॥
कालरात्रीं ब्रह्मस्तुतां वैष्णवीं स्कन्दमातरम्। सरस्वतीमदितिं दक्षदुहितरं नमामः पावनां शिवाम्॥११॥
महालक्ष्म्यै च विद्महे सर्वशक्त्यै च धीमहि। तन्नो देवी प्रचोदयात्॥१२॥
अदितिर्ह्यजनिष्ट दक्ष या दुहिता तव। तां देवा अन्वजायन्त भद्रा अमृतबन्धवः॥१३॥
कामो योनिः कमला वज्रपाणिर्गुहा हसा मातरिश्वाभ्रमिन्द्रः। पुनर्गुहा सकला मायया च पुरूच्यैषा विश्वमातादिविद्योम्॥१४॥
एषाऽऽत्मशक्तिः। एषा विश्वमोहिनी। पाशाङ्कुशधनुर्बाणधरा। एषा श्रीमहाविद्या। य एवं वेद स शोकं तरति॥१५॥
नमस्ते अस्तु भगवतिमातरस्मान् पाहि सर्वतः॥१६॥
सैषाष्टौ वसवः। सैषैकादश रुद्राः। सैषा द्वादशादित्याः। सैषा विश्वेदेवाः सोमपा असोमपाश्च। सैषा यातुधाना असुरारक्षांसि पिशाचा यक्षाः सिद्धाः। सैषा सत्त्वरजस्तमांसि। सैषा ब्रह्मविष्णुरुद्ररूपिणी। सैषा प्रजापतीन्द्रमनवः। सैषा ग्रहनक्षत्रज्योतींषि। कलाकाष्ठादिकालरूपिणी। तामहं प्रणौमि नित्यम्॥ पापापहारिणीं देवीं भुक्तिमुक्तिप्रदायिनीम्। अनन्तां विजयां शुद्धां शरण्यां शिवदां शिवाम्॥१७॥
वियदीकारसंयुक्तं वीतिहोत्रसमन्वितम्। अर्धेन्दुलसितं देव्याबीजं सर्वार्थसाधकम्॥१८॥
एवमेकाक्षरं ब्रह्मयतयः शुद्धचेतसः। ध्यायन्ति परमानन्दमया ज्ञानाम्बुराशयः॥१९॥
वाङ्माया ब्रह्मसूस्तस्मात्षष्ठं वक्त्रसमन्वितम्। सूर्योऽवाम-श्रोत्रबिन्दुसंयुक्तष्टात्तृतीयकः। नारायणेन सम्मिश्रोवायुश्चाधरयुक् ततः। विच्चे नवार्णकोऽर्णः स्यान्महदानन्ददायकः॥२०॥
हृत्पुण्डरीकमध्यस्थां प्रातःसूर्यसमप्रभाम्। पाशाङ्कुशधरां सौम्यां वरदाभयहस्तकाम्। त्रिनेत्रां रक्तवसनां भक्तकामदुघां भजे॥२१॥
नमामि त्वां महादेवींमहाभयविनाशिनीम्। महादुर्गप्रशमनीं महाकारुण्यरूपिणीम्॥२२॥
यस्याः स्वरूपं ब्रह्मादयो नजानन्ति तस्मादुच्यते अज्ञेया। यस्या अन्तो न लभ्यतेतस्मादुच्यते अनन्ता। यस्या लक्ष्यं नोपलक्ष्यतेतस्मादुच्यते अलक्ष्या। यस्या जननं नोपलभ्यतेतस्मादुच्यते अजा। एकैव सर्वत्र वर्ततेतस्मादुच्यते एका। एकैव विश्वरूपिणीतस्मादुच्यते नैका। अत एवोच्यतेअज्ञेयानन्तालक्ष्याजैका नैकेति॥२३॥
मन्त्राणां मातृका देवीशब्दानां ज्ञानरूपिणी। ज्ञानानां चिन्मयातीता शून्यानां शून्यसाक्षिणी। यस्याः परतरं नास्तिसैषा दुर्गा प्रकीर्तिता॥२४॥
तां दुर्गां दुर्गमां देवींदुराचारविघातिनीम्। नमामि भवभीतोऽहंसंसारार्णवतारिणीम्॥२५॥ ॥इति श्रीदेव्यथर्वशीर्षम्॥

॥नारायण अवतार भगवान धन्वंतरि का प्रादुर्भाव॥
कार्तिक माह (पूर्णिमान्त) की कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी तिथि के दिन समुद्र-मंन्थन के समय भगवान धन्वन्तरि अमृत कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे, इसलिए इस तिथि को धनतेरस या धनत्रयोदशी के नाम से जाना जाता है। भारत सरकार ने धनतेरस को राष्ट्रीय आयुर्वेद दिवस के रूप में मनाने का निर्णय लिया है।
॥बर्तन, धनिया और आभूषण खरीदने की प्रथा॥
धन्वन्तरि जब प्रकट हुए थे तो उनके हाथो में अमृत से भरा कलश था। भगवान धन्वन्तरि चूँकि कलश लेकर प्रकट हुए थे इसलिए ही इस अवसर पर बर्तन खरीदने की परम्परा है। कहीं कहीं लोकमान्यता के अनुसार यह भी कहा जाता है कि इस दिन आभूषण खरीदने से उसमें तेरह गुणा वृद्धि होती है। इस अवसर पर लोग धनियाँ के बीज खरीद कर भी घर में रखते हैं। दीपावली के बाद इन बीजों को लोग अपने बाग-बगीचों में या खेतों में बोते हैं।॥अकाल मृत्यु से अभय वरदान॥
धनतेरस की शाम घर के बाहर मुख्य द्वार पर और आंगन में दीप जलाने की प्रथा भी है। इस प्रथा के पीछे एक लोककथा है। कथा के अनुसार किसी समय में एक राजा थे जिनका नाम हेम था। दैव कृपा से उन्हें पुत्र रत्न की प्राप्ति हुई। ज्योंतिषियों ने जब बालक की कुण्डली बनाई तो पता चला कि बालक का विवाह जिस दिन होगा उसके ठीक चार दिन के बाद वह मृत्यु को प्राप्त होगा। राजा इस बात को जानकर बहुत दुखी हुआ और राजकुमार को ऐसी जगह पर भेज दिया जहाँ किसी स्त्री की परछाई भी न पड़े। दैवयोग से एक दिन एक राजकुमारी उधर से गुजरी और दोनों एक दूसरे को देखकर मोहित हो गये और उन्होंने गन्धर्व विवाह कर लिया। विवाह के पश्चात विधि का विधान सामने आया और विवाह के चार दिन बाद यमदूत उस राजकुमार के प्राण लेने आ पहुँचे। जब यमदूत राजकुमार प्राण ले जा रहे थे उस वक्त नवविवाहिता उसकी पत्नी का विलाप सुनकर उनका हृदय भी द्रवित हो उठा। परन्तु विधि के अनुसार उन्हें अपना कार्य करना पड़ा। यमराज को जब यमदूत यह कह रहे थे, उसी समय उनमें से एक ने यम देवता से विनती की- हे यमराज! क्या कोई ऐसा उपाय नहीं है जिससे मनुष्य अकाल मृत्यु से मुक्त हो जाए। दूत के इस प्रकार अनुरोध करने से यम देवता बोले, हे दूत! अकाल मृत्यु तो कर्म की गति है, इससे मुक्ति का एक आसान तरीका मैं तुम्हें बताता हूं, सो सुनो। कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी रात जो प्राणी मेरे (यम देवता के) नाम से पूजन करके दीपमाला दक्षिण दिशा की ओर भेट करता है, उसे अकाल मृत्यु का भय नहीं रहता है। यही कारण है कि लोग इस दिन घर से बाहर दक्षिण दिशा की ओर दीप जलाकर रखते हैं।॥श्रीमहालक्ष्मी नारायण की पूजा विधि॥
॥धनतेरस पूजा का समय॥
धनतेरस पर, महालक्ष्मी नारायण पूजा और यम देवता के लिए दीपक प्रदोष काल के दौरान होती है। यह समय स्थानिक सूर्यास्त से शुरू होता है और लगभग दो घंटे चौबीस मिनट तक रहता है।॥धनत्रयोदशी संकल्पम्॥
(दाहिने हाथ में जल और पुष्प लेकर संकल्प करें। संकल्प लेने के पश्चात पुष्प और जल को एक पात्र में छोड़ दे।) ममात्मनः कार्तिक-कृष्ण-त्रयोदशी-निमित्ते श्रुति-स्मृति-पुराणोक्त-फलप्राप्त्यर्थं दु:ख-दारिद्रय-दौर्भाग्यादि-सकलदोष-शमनार्थं श्रीमहालक्ष्मीनारायण पूजन अहम् करिष्ये॥॥श्री गुरु ध्यानम्॥

॥अथ यमाष्टकम्॥
तपसा धर्ममाराध्य पुष्करे भास्करः पुरा। धर्मं सूर्यः सुतं प्राप धर्मराजं नमाम्यहम्॥१॥ समता सर्वभूतेषु यस्य सर्वस्य साक्षिणः। अतो यन्नाम शमनं इति तं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥२॥ येनान्तश्च कृतो विश्वे सर्वेषां जीविनां परम्। कर्मानुरूपं कालेन तं कृतान्तं नमाम्यहम्॥३॥ भिभर्ति दण्डं दण्डाय पापिनां शुद्धिहेतवे। नमामि तं दण्डधरं यश्शास्ता सर्वजीविनाम् ॥४॥ विश्वं च कलयत्येव यस्सर्वेषु च सन्ततम्। अतीव दुर्निवार्यं च तं कालं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥५॥ तपस्वी ब्रह्मनिष्टो यः सम्यमी सन् जितेन्द्रियः। जीवानां कर्मफलदः तं यमं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥६॥ स्वात्मारमश्च सर्वज्ञो मित्रं पुण्यकृतां भवेत्। पापिनां क्लेशदो नित्यं पुण्यमित्रं नमाम्यहम् ॥७॥ यज्जन्म ब्रह्मणोंशेन ज्वलन्तं ब्रह्मतेजसा। यो ध्यायति परं ब्रह्म तमीशं प्रणमाम्यहम्॥८॥ यमाष्टकमिदं नित्यं प्रातरुत्ताय यः पटेत्। यमात् तस्य भयं नास्ति सर्वपापात् विमुच्यते॥९॥ ॥इति यमाष्टकम्॥॥अकाल मृत्यु से अभय वरदान॥
धनतेरस की शाम घर के बाहर मुख्य द्वार पर और आंगन में दीप जलाने की प्रथा भी है। इस प्रथा के पीछे एक लोककथा है। कथा के अनुसार किसी समय में एक राजा थे जिनका नाम हेम था। दैव कृपा से उन्हें पुत्र रत्न की प्राप्ति हुई। ज्योंतिषियों ने जब बालक की कुण्डली बनाई तो पता चला कि बालक का विवाह जिस दिन होगा उसके ठीक चार दिन के बाद वह मृत्यु को प्राप्त होगा। राजा इस बात को जानकर बहुत दुखी हुआ और राजकुमार को ऐसी जगह पर भेज दिया जहाँ किसी स्त्री की परछाई भी न पड़े। दैवयोग से एक दिन एक राजकुमारी उधर से गुजरी और दोनों एक दूसरे को देखकर मोहित हो गये और उन्होंने गन्धर्व विवाह कर लिया। विवाह के पश्चात विधि का विधान सामने आया और विवाह के चार दिन बाद यमदूत उस राजकुमार के प्राण लेने आ पहुँचे। जब यमदूत राजकुमार प्राण ले जा रहे थे उस वक्त नवविवाहिता उसकी पत्नी का विलाप सुनकर उनका हृदय भी द्रवित हो उठा। परन्तु विधि के अनुसार उन्हें अपना कार्य करना पड़ा। यमराज को जब यमदूत यह कह रहे थे, उसी समय उनमें से एक ने यम देवता से विनती की- हे यमराज! क्या कोई ऐसा उपाय नहीं है जिससे मनुष्य अकाल मृत्यु से मुक्त हो जाए। दूत के इस प्रकार अनुरोध करने से यम देवता बोले, हे दूत! अकाल मृत्यु तो कर्म की गति है, इससे मुक्ति का एक आसान तरीका मैं तुम्हें बताता हूं, सो सुनो। कार्तिक कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी रात जो प्राणी मेरे (यम देवता के) नाम से पूजन करके दीपमाला दक्षिण दिशा की ओर भेट करता है, उसे अकाल मृत्यु का भय नहीं रहता है। यही कारण है कि लोग इस दिन घर से बाहर दक्षिण दिशा की ओर दीप जलाकर रखते हैं।॥दक्षिण में दीपक रखते समय बोलने का स्तोत्र॥
॥अथ यमाष्टकम्॥

हठ योग प्रदीपिका से संदर्भ
पार्षि्णभागेन सम्पीड्य योनिमाकुञ्चयेद्गुदम्। अपानमूर्ध्वमाकृष्य मूलबन्धोऽभिधीयते॥३-६१॥
भावार्थ – एड़ी से मूलाधार/योनि को दबाएं और गुदा/मलाशय को सिकोड़ें। इससे अपान वायु (पादने के दौरान निकलने वाली हवा) ऊपर की ओर चली जाएगी। इसे मूल बंध कहा जाता है।
अधोगतिमपानं वै ऊर्ध्वगं कुरुते बलात्। आकुञ्चनेन तं प्राहुर्मूलबन्धं हि योगिन:॥३-६२॥
भावार्थ – नीचे ( गुदा ) की ओर गति करने वाले अपान वायु को बलपूर्वक ऊपर की ओर खींचकर वहीं पर रोकने को योगियों ने मूलबन्ध कहा है।
गुदं पाष्ण् र्या तु सम्पीड्य योनिमाकुञ्चयेद् बलात्। वारं वारं यथा चोर्ध्वं समायाति समीरण:॥३-६३॥
भावार्थ – एड़ी को मलाशय/गुदा पर मजबूती से दबाएं और जोर से और बार-बार सिकोड़ें। इससे जीवनाधार ऊर्जा का संचार होता है।
इस बंध से कुण्डलिनी शक्ति का जागरण –
प्राणापानौ नादबिन्दू मूलबन्धेन चैकताम्। गत्वा योगस्य संसिद्धिं यच्छतो नात्र संशय:॥३-६४॥
भावार्थ – मूल बंध की सिद्धि से प्राण वायु, अपान वायु, अनाहत नाद और वीर्य का मिलन होता है। इसमें कोई संदेह नहीं कि इससे साधक को सिद्धि प्राप्त होती है।
अपानप्राणयोरैक्यं क्षयो मूत्रपुरीषयो:। युवा भवति वृद्धोऽपि सततं मूलबन्धनात्॥३-६५॥
भावार्थ – नियमित रूप से मूल बंध का अभ्यास करने से प्राण वायु और अपान वायु में एकरूपता आती है। इससे साधक के शरीर में मल-मूत्र की मात्रा कम हो जाती है, जिससे वृद्ध व्यक्ति युवा व्यक्ति जितना ऊर्जावान हो जाता है।
अपाने ऊर्ध्वगे जाते प्रयाते वह्निमण्डलम्। तदाऽनलशिखा दीर्घा जायते वायुनाऽऽहता॥३-६६॥
ततो यातो वह्नयपानौ प्राणमुष्णस्वरूपकम्। तेनात्यन्तप्रदीप्तस्तु ज्वलनो देहजस्तथा॥३-६७॥
तेन कुण्डलिनी सुप्ता सन्तप्ता सम्प्रबुध्यते। दण्डाहता भुजङ्गीव नि:श्वस्य ऋजुतां व्रजेत्॥३-६८॥
बिलं प्रविष्टेव ततो ब्रह्ननाड्यन्तरं व्रजेत्। तस्मान्नित्यं मूलबन्ध: कर्तव्यो योगिभि: सदा॥३-६९॥
भावार्थ – जब अपान वायु को मूल बंध के माध्यम से ऊपर की ओर खींचा जाता है, तो यह ऊपर की ओर बढ़ने लगती है। जैसे ही वह अपान वायु नीचे से ऊपर की ओर बढ़ती हुई जठरा अग्नि तक पहुंचती है, तो उस वायु से प्रेरित होकर साधक की जठरा अग्नि और भी अधिक प्रकाशित (मजबूत) हो जाती है। फिर जठराग्नि और अपान वायु की अग्नि बढ़ने से शरीर में मौजूद प्राण को भी गर्म कर देते हैं। जिसके कारण शरीर में अग्नि भी बहुत तेजी से बढ़ती है। इस प्रकार शरीर में अग्नि बढ़ने से शरीर में सुप्त कुण्डलिनी भी जागृत अवस्था में आ जाती है।इसके बाद वह उसी प्रकार सीधी हो जाती है, जैसे सांप को छड़ी से धीरे-धीरे सहलाने से सीधा हो जाता है। अब जब कुंडलिनी जागृत अवस्था में आ जाती है तो वह ब्रह्मनाड़ी में उसी प्रकार प्रवेश करती है जैसे सांप अपने बिल में प्रवेश करता है। अतः योगी साधक को नियमित रूप से मूलबन्ध का अभ्यास करना चाहिए।

Meaning – Press the perineum/vagina with the heel and contract the anus/rectum. This will move the apana vayu (air that comes out while farting) upward. This is called Moola Bandha.
Adhogatimapan va urdhwargam kurute balat|
Aakunchanen tam prahurmulbandham hi yoginah|| 3-62||
Meaning – The downward moving apana vayu is forced to go upward with a deliberate contraction and is stopped there. Yogis call this moola bandha (root lock).

Meaning – When Apana Vayu is pulled upwards through Moola Bandha, it starts moving upwards. As soon as that Apana Vayu reaches the Jathra Agni (gastric fire) moving from the bottom upwards, the Jathra Agni of the seeker gets even more illuminated (stronger) by being inspired by that Vayu. Then due to increase in the fire of gastric fire and apana vayu, they also heat the prana present in the body. Due to which the fire in the body also increases very rapidly. In this way, due to increase in fire in the body, the dormant Kundalini in the body also comes into awakening state. After this, it becomes straight in the same way as a snake becomes straight by gently caressing it with a stick. Now when the Kundalini has come into an awakened state, it enters the Brahmanadi in the same way as a snake enters its hole. Therefore, a Yogi seeker should practice Moolabandha regularly.
॥ श्राद्ध ॥
आयुः कीर्ति बलं तेजो,धनं पुत्रं पशुं स्त्रियः।
ददन्ति पितरस्यतस्य,आरोग्यं नात्रं संशयः।।
धर्म शास्त्र में कहा गया है कि जो मनुष्य श्राद्ध करता है, वह पितरों के आशीर्वाद से आयु, यश, बल, वैभव, सुखसुविधा, पुत्र, परिवार और आरोग्य को प्राप्त करता है।
॥ श्राद्ध पक्ष अथवा पितृ पक्ष की शुरुआत ॥
गरुड़ पुराण में भीष्म पितामह और युधिष्ठिर के संवाद बताए गए हैं। महाभारत काल में भीष्म पितामह ने युधिष्ठिर को पितृ पक्ष में श्राद्ध और उसके महत्व को बताया था।
भीष्म पितामह ने बताया कि अत्रि मुनि ने सबसे पहले श्राद्ध के बारे में महर्षि निमि को ज्ञान दिया था। अपने पुत्र की आकस्मिक मृत्यु से दुखी होकर, निमि ऋषि ने अपने पूर्वजों का आह्वान करना शुरू कर दिया था। इसके बाद पूर्वज उनके सामने प्रकट हुए और कहा, “निमि, आपका पुत्र पहले ही पितृ देवों के बीच स्थान ले चुका है। चूंकि आपने अपने दिवंगत पुत्र की आत्मा को खिलाने और पूजा करने का कार्य किया है, यह वैसा ही है जैसे आपने पितृ यज्ञ किया हो।”
उस समय से श्राद्ध को सनातन धर्म का महत्वपूर्ण अनुष्ठान माना जाता है।
॥ पितरों को श्राद्ध में दी गई वस्तुओं की प्राप्ति ॥
कुछ लोगों को संदेह होता है कि श्राद्ध में समर्पित की गई वस्तुएँ पितरों को कैसे मिलती हैं? कर्मों में भिन्नता के कारण मृत्यु के बाद मनुष्य की गति भी भिन्न-भिन्न होती है। कोई देवता बन जाता है, कोई पितर, कोई भूत, कोई हाथी, कोई चींटी, कोई पेड़ और कोई घास। तब मन में यह शंका होती है कि छोटे से शरीर से भिन्न-भिन्न योनियों में पितरों को तृप्ति कैसे मिलती है? इस शंका का सुन्दर समाधान स्कन्दपुराण में मिलता है।
एक बार राजा करन्धम ने महायोगी महाकाल से पूछा – ‘मनुष्यों द्वारा पितरों के लिए अर्पित किया गया जल (तर्पण) और भोजन (पिंडदान) यहीं रहता है, फिर वे वस्तुएं पितरों तक कैसे पहुंचती हैं और पितर कैसे तृप्त होते हैं?’
भगवान महाकाल ने बताया कि – विश्वनियन्ता ने ऐसी व्यवस्था कर रखी है कि श्राद्ध की सामग्री उनके अनुरुप होकर पितरों के पास पहुंचती है। इस व्यवस्था के अधिपति हैं अग्निष्वात आदि। पितरों और देवताओं की योनि ऐसी है कि वे दूर से कही हुई बातें सुन लेते हैं, दूर की पूजा ग्रहण कर लेते हैं और दूर से कही गयी स्तुतियों से ही प्रसन्न हो जाते हैं । वे भूत, भविष्य व वर्तमान सब जानते हैं और सभी जगह पहुंच सकते हैं । पांच तन्मात्राएं, मन, बुद्धि, अहंकार और प्रकृति – इन नौ तत्वों से उनका शरीर बना होता है और इसके भीतर दसवें तत्व के रूप में साक्षात् भगवान पुरुषोत्तम उसमें निवास करते हैं । इसलिए देवता और पितर गन्ध व रसतत्व से तृप्त होते हैं । शब्दतत्व से रहते हैं और स्पर्शतत्व को ग्रहण करते हैं। पवित्रता से ही वे प्रसन्न होते हैं और वर देते हैं।
जीवित या मृत व्यक्ति की आत्मा इस दुनिया में उपस्थित है और अन्य सभी आत्माओं से जुडी है। जब एक छोटा सा यज्ञ किया जाता है तो उसकी दिव्य सुगंध और भावना से संसार के सभी प्राणियों में सकारात्मकता बढ़ती है। इसी प्रकार कृतज्ञता की भावना व्यक्त करने के लिए किया गया श्राद्ध सभी प्राणियों में शांतिपूर्ण सद्भावना बढ़ाता है जिससे जीवित और मृत सभी तृप्त होते हैं। यह सत्य है की तर्पण का वह जल उस पितर तक नहीं पहुंचा, वह धरती में गिरकर विलीन हो जाता है। यह सत्य है यज्ञ में आहुति दी गयी सामग्री जलकर वहीं भस्म हो जाती है। परन्तु यह कहना उचित नहीं कि यज्ञ या तर्पण से किसी का कुछ लाभ नहीं हुआ। महत्त्वपूर्ण भावनाएं हैं, जो उन अनुष्ठानों को करने वाले व्यक्ति की होती हैं। श्राद्ध कार्य को केवल रुढ़िवादी परंपरा मात्र से पूरा नहीं करना चाहिए, वरन् पितरों के द्वारा जो उपकार हमारे ऊपर हुए हैं, उनका स्मरण करके, उनके प्रति अपनी श्रद्धा और भावना की वृद्धि करनी चाहिए।
॥ श्राद्ध पक्ष अथवा पितृ पक्ष॥
- सनातन परंपरा में एक पूरा पक्ष पितरों के लिए श्रद्धा का पक्ष होता है। जो श्राद्ध पक्ष अथवा पितृपक्ष के नाम से जाना जाता है।
- श्राद्ध पक्ष अथवा पितृ पक्ष भाद्रपद मास के शुक्ल पक्ष की पूर्णिमा से शुरू होता है और इस तिथि से सोलवे दिन पर आनेवाली अमावस्या तक चलता है। कई क्षेत्र या पंचांग इस अमावस्या को आश्विन अमावस्या के नाम से जानते है तो कई क्षेत्र या पंचांग में इसी को भाद्रपद की अमावस्या कहते है। अपने क्षेत्र या पंचांग के विशेषज्ञ से आप यह जानकारी पा सकते है। इस पक्ष को श्राद्ध महालय भी कहते है।
- अलग-अलग पुराणों और कथाओं में इस काल को अपने दिवंगत पूर्वजों-पितरों को कव्य अर्पित करने का विधान बताया गया है।
- हिन्दु शास्त्रों के अनुसार मुत्यु होने पर मनुष्य की जीवात्मा चन्द्रलोक की तरफ जाती है और ऊंची उठकर पितृलोक में पहुंचती है। इन मृतात्माओं को अपने नियत स्थान तक पहुंचने की शक्ति प्रदान करने के लिए श्राद्ध, पिण्डदान और तर्पण का विधान किया गया है।
- गरुड़ पुराण के अनुसार यमपुरी के रास्ते से धर्मराज तक पहुंचने के लिए मृतात्माओं को शक्ति प्रदान करने उनके धरतीलोक में जीवित वंशज श्राद्ध, पिण्डदान और तर्पण द्वारा उनतक अन्नजल पहुंचाते है।
- पितृ पक्ष को लेकर हिंदू धर्म में ऐसी मान्यता है कि, इस समय पितृ धरतीलोक पर आते हैं और किसी न किसी रूप में अपने परिजनों के आसपास रहते हैं। यदि गुरुजनों का या परिवार के सदस्यों का मुत्यु हो जाय, तो भी मनुष्य की उनके प्रति श्रद्धा स्थिर रहनी चाहिए। इसलिए इस समय पितरों का श्राद्ध, तर्पण और पिंडदान करने का विधान है।
- पितर शब्द से भले ही पिता और पुरुषों का ही बोध होता हो, लेकिन श्राद्ध में दिवंगत माता और दादी, परदादी यानि कुल परिवार की दिवंगत माताओं को भी जल और पिंड दिए जाते हैं।
- पितृ पक्ष में श्राद्ध कर्म खास कर पिता या माता की मृत्यु उनकी तिथि पर और अगर वो जीवित है तो दादा अथवा दादी की मृत्यु उनकी तिथि पर और अगर वो जीवित है तो परदादा अथवा परदादी जिनकी मृत्यु हो गई हो उनकी तिथि पर किया जाता है। पिता या माता की मृत्यु हुई हो तो जिसकी मृत्यु बाद में हुई हो उनकी तिथि पर पितृ पक्ष में सभी के लिए एक साथ श्राद्ध किया जाता है।
- हर व्यक्ति ने अपने पूर्व की तीन पीढ़ियों का श्राद्ध करना चाहिए। यह तीन पीढ़ियाँ माता और पिता दोनों की तरफ से होती है। कुल परिवार के सभी पितरों को पिंडदान के साथ तिल डाल कर जल अर्पित कर उनका स्मरण करते हैं। तिल डाल कर जल अर्पित करने को तिलांजलि कहते है। जीवित व्यक्ति के लिए श्राद्ध न करे।
- माता, दादी, और परदादी (मातृ-पितामहि-प्रपितामहि)
- पिता, दादा, और परदादा (पितृ-पितामह-प्रपितामह)
- नाना, परनाना, और वृद्धपरनाना (मातामह-प्रमातामह-वृद्धप्रमातामह)
- श्राद्ध जब भी किया जाए उत्तम है। देव-पितरादि को जितनी अधिक श्रद्धा भावना समर्पित करके प्रसन्न किया जाय उतना उत्तम होता है। यदि नित्य श्रद्धार्पण न कर सके तो नैमित्तिक ही सही, पितृपक्ष का श्राद्ध करना चाहिए।
- यदि किसी माता-पिता के अनेक पुत्र हों और संयुक्त रूप से रहते हों तो सबसे बड़े पुत्र को पितृकर्म करना चाहिए।
- यह पूर्वजों को यह बताने का एक तरीका है कि वे अभी भी परिवार का एक अनिवार्य अंग हैं।
॥ श्राद्ध का महत्व ॥
- श्राद्ध का तात्पर्य श्रद्धाभिव्यक्ति परक कर्म हैं, जो देवात्माओं, महापुरुषों, ऋषियों, गुरुजनों और पितरों की प्रसन्नता के लिए किए जाते हैं।
- यह लेख पितृ पक्ष में किये जाने वाले श्राद्ध पर है। तथापि, वार्षिक श्राद्ध भी किए जाते हैं, जिसमें श्रद्धाभाव से अपने पितृ के उपकारों के लिए उनके प्रति आभार और उनके प्रति भक्ति भाव प्रदर्शित करने की रीति है।
- इन सब अनुष्ठानो में पितरों की तृप्ति के लिए उनकी पूजा के साथ वैदिक विधान से पिण्डदान और तर्पण किया जाता है।
- ऐसा माना जाता है कि यह पिंडदान और तर्पण जिन पूर्वज के लिए किया जाता है वह उनतक पहुँचता है और वे तृप्त होकर श्राद्ध करने वाले अपने कुल को समृद्धि का आशीर्वाद देते है।
- ऐसा माना जाता है कि पितृ पक्ष में किए श्राद्ध कर्म से पितर तृप्त होते हैं और पितरो का ऋण उतरता है।
- पूर्वज अगर पितृ योनि में है तो यहाँ किये जानेवाले श्राद्ध से उनकी पितृयोनि से मुक्ति का मार्ग भी खुलता है।
- यदि पितर किसी और योनि में है तो यहाँ किये गए पिंडदान और तर्पण उनको उस योनि में भी तृप्ति की अनुभूति कराते है। उदाहरण के तौर पर आप ने सुना होगा की कभी किसी व्यक्ति को बहुत प्यास लगी हो और आसपास जल की मिलने की कोई संभावना न होने के बावजूद अचानक उनको कोई आकर पानी पीलाता है।
- पिण्ड और तर्पण तो मात्र प्रतीक हैं। वास्तविक समपर्ण पितर के प्रति श्रद्धा की ही होती है। यही भावना पितर, देव, ऋषि व महापुरुषों को प्रसन्न करने का माध्यम बनती है।
- सुख सौभाग्य केवल ईश्वर से नहीं मिलते। जब तपती रेत की असहनीय गर्मी से जीवन मर रहा हो, तभी हरी-भरी धरती के शीतल आंचल का महत्व समझ में आता है। इसी तरह जब ग्रहनक्षत्र के अशुभ प्रभाव से जीवन कठिनाईओ से भर जाता है तब पित्रुओं का आशीर्वाद अमृत की तरह सहायक होता है। माने की न माने जो लोग पूर्वजों की संपत्ति का उपभोग करते हैं और उनका श्राद्ध नहीं करते, ऐसे लोगों को पितरों द्वारा शप्त होकर कई दुखों का सामना करना पड़ता है।
- श्राद्ध के साथ-साथ अपने पूर्वजों के नाम पर पेड़ पौधे भी लगाने चाहिए। जैसे ऊपर कहा सुख सौभाग्य केवल ईश्वर से नहीं मिलते। उनके द्वारा निर्मित इस समृद्ध प्रकृति में, जो पंच महाभूतों से बनी है, सौभाग्य भी विद्यमान है। इन भूतों में धरती हमारे सबसे निकट है जो हमारे जीवन का आधार है। इसमें न केवल अन्न जल अपितु वृक्ष वनस्पति भी हमें जीवित और स्वस्थ रहने में मदद करते हैं।
- यदि अपने पितर के नाम पर एक वृक्ष लगाया जाय तो उस वृक्ष की छाया में पलने और विचरने वाले हज़ारो जीवजन्तु, पक्षी और अन्य चराचर का आशीर्वाद पितर और उनके कुल को मिलता है।
- श्रद्धा यदि सत्य को स्पर्श कर ले, तो समझना चाहिए श्राद्ध धन्य हो गया। देव पुरुषों, पितर पुरुषों, दिव्यात्माओं और ईश्वरीय सत्ता के जितने अधिक आशीर्वाद मिले, उतना ही सद्भाग्य होता है। श्रद्धा एक ऐसा गुण है जो व्यक्ति को सद्गुण, सद्विचार और उत्कृष्ट विशेषताओं के आधार पर श्रेष्ठता प्रदान करता है।
॥श्राद्ध और तिथि॥
हिन्दू पञ्चाङ्ग में श्राद्ध के लिए पितृ पक्ष की सोलह तिथियां बताई गई है। जानते हैं कौन सी तिथि पर किस पितर पर श्राद्ध करना चाहिए।
भाद्रपद शुक्ल की पूर्णिमा
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह की पूर्णिमा तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है। इसे प्रोष्ठपदी पूर्णिमा के नाम से भी जाना जाता है।
यदि इस दिन श्राद्ध न कर सके तो उनका श्राद्ध भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष अष्टमी, द्वादशी या पितृमोक्ष अमावस्या पर किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष प्रतिपदा
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की प्रतिपदा तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
ननिहाल के परिवार में कोई श्राद्ध करने वाला नहीं हो या उनके मृत्यु की तिथि ज्ञात न हो तो उनका श्राद्ध भी भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष प्रतिपदा तिथि में किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष द्वितीया
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की द्वितीया तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष तृतीया
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की तृतीया तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है। इसे महाभरणी भी कहा जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष चतुर्थी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्थी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष पंचमी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की पंचमी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
ऐसे पूर्वज जिनकी मृत्यु अविवाहिता के रूप में होती है उनका श्राद्ध भी भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष पंचमी तिथि में किया जाता है। यह दिन कुंवारे पितरों के श्राद्ध के लिए समर्पित होता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष षष्ठी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की षष्ठी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है। इसे छठ श्राद्ध भी कहा जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष सप्तमी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की सप्तमी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष अष्टमी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
ऐसे पितर जिनकी मृत्यु पूर्णिमा तिथि पर हुई हो तो उनका श्राद्ध भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष अष्टमी, द्वादशी या पितृमोक्ष अमावस्या पर किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष नवमी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की नवमी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
माता की मृत्यु तिथि के अनुसार श्राद्ध न करके नवमी तिथि पर उनका श्राद्ध करना चाहिए। ऐसा माना जाता है कि, नवमी तिथि को माता का श्राद्ध करने से सभी कष्टों से मुक्ति मिलती हैं। वहीं जिन महिलाओं की मृत्यु तिथि याद न हो उनका श्राद्ध भी नवमी तिथि को किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष दशमी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की दशमी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष एकादशी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की एकादशी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
ऐसे लोग जो संन्यास लिए हुए होते हैं, उन पितरों का श्राद्ध एकादशी तिथि को किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष द्वादशी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की द्वादशी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
जिनके पिता संन्यास लिए हुए होते हैं उनका श्राद्ध पितृ पक्ष की द्वादशी तिथि को किया जाता है। चाहे उनकी मृत्यु किसी भी तिथि को हुई हो। इसलिए तिथि को संन्यासी श्राद्ध भी कहा जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष त्रयोदशी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की त्रयोदशी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष त्रयोदशी तिथि को बच्चों का श्राद्ध किया जाता है।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष चतुर्दशी
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह के शुक्ल पक्ष या कृष्ण पक्ष की चतुर्दशी तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
ऐसे लोग जिनकी अकाल मृत्यु हुई हो जैसे आग से जलने, शस्त्रों के आघात से, विषपान से, दुर्घना से या जल में डूबने से हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध चतुर्दशी तिथि को करना चाहिए।
भाद्रपद कृष्ण पक्ष अमावस्या
जिनकी मृत्यु किसी भी माह की अमावस्या तिथि को हुई हो, उनका श्राद्ध इस तिथि किया जाता है।
पितृ पक्ष के अंतिम दिन सर्वपितृ अमावस्या पर ज्ञात-अज्ञात पूर्वजों के श्राद्ध किए जाते हैं। इसे पितृविसर्जनी अमावस्या अथवा महालय समापन भी कहा जाता है।
मृत व्यक्ति के लिए किये जाने वाले श्राद्ध का तो महत्व है ही।
हालाँकि, जीवित वृद्ध की उपेक्षा, अपमान या तिरस्कार नहीं किया जाना चाहिए। हमें जीवित वृद्ध सदस्य के प्रति सत्कार और सम्मान के पवित्र भाव रखने चाहिए। बड़ों के आशीर्वाद से मिलने वाली प्रसिद्धि पाने के लिए ईश्वर स्वयं जन्म लेते हैं।
॥ Shraddha ॥
आयुः कीर्ति बलं तेजो,धनं पुत्रं पशुं स्त्रियः।
ददन्ति पितरस्यतस्य,आरोग्यं नात्रं संशयः।।
It is said in the religious scriptures that the person who performs Shraddha, attains logevity, fame, strength, glory, comfort, children, family and health with the blessings of his/her ancestors.
॥ Beginning of Shraddha Paksha or Pitru Paksha ॥
In Garuda Purana, dialogues between Bhishma Pitamah and Yudhishthir have been described. During the Mahabharata period, Bhishma Pitamah had told Yudhishthir about Shraddha and its importance in Pitru Paksha.
Bhishma Pitamah told that Atri Muni had first given knowledge about Shraddha to Maharishi Nimi. Saddened by the sudden death of his son, Sage Nimi started invoking his ancestors. The ancestors then appeared before him and said, “Nimi, your son has already taken a place among the ancestral gods. Since you have performed the task of feeding and worshiping the soul of your departed son, it is as if you have performed the yagya for your ancestors.”
Since that time Shraddha is considered an important ritual of Sanatan Dharma.
॥ Receipt of offerings given to ancestors in Shraddha ॥
Some people doubt that how do the ancestors get the things dedicated in Shraddha? Due to difference in karma, the fate of a human being after death also varies. Someone becomes a god, someone an ancestor, someone a ghost, someone an elephant, someone an ant, someone a tree and someone a grass. Then this doubt arises in the mind that how do the ancestors get satisfaction in different species from a small body? A beautiful solution to this doubt is found in Skandapuran.
Once King Karandham asked Mahayogi Mahakal – ‘The water (tarpan) and food (pind daan) that is offered by human beings for the ancestors remains here, then how do those things reach the ancestors and how do the ancestors get satisfied?’
Lord Mahakal told that – the controller of this universe has made such arrangements that the material of Shraddha reaches the ancestors as per their wish. The rulers of this system are Agnishwat etc. The nature of ancestors and gods is such that they listen to things said from a distance, accept worship from a distance and become happy only by the praises said from a distance. They know the past, future and present and can reach everywhere. Their body is made up of five tanmatras, mind, intellect, ego and nature – these nine elements and within it resides Lord Purushottam in person as the tenth element. Therefore the gods and ancestors are satisfied with the smell and essence of juice. They live by the element of words and accept the element of touch. Only by purity do they become happy and bless boons.
The soul of a person, living or dead, is present in this world and is connected to all other souls. When a small Yagya is performed, its divine aroma and spirit increase positivity in all the living beings in the world. Similarly, Shraddha performed to express the feeling of gratitude increases peaceful goodwill among all living beings, thereby satisfying all the living and the dead. It is true that the water of tarpan does not reach that ancestor, it falls into the earth and gets dissolved. It is true that the material offered in Yagya gets burnt to ashes there itself. But it is not right to say that no one got any benefit from Yagya or Tarpan. Important are the emotions that the person performing those rituals has. Shraddha work should not be completed only by orthodox tradition, but by remembering the favors done to us by our ancestors, we should increase our devotion and feelings towards them.
॥ Shraddha Paksha or Pitru Paksha॥
- In Sanatan tradition, there is a whole period of reverence for ancestors. Which is known as Shraddha Paksha or Pitru Paksha.
- Shraddha Paksha or Pitru Paksha starts from the full moon day of Shukla Paksha of Bhadrapada month and continues till Amavasya on the sixteenth day from this date. In many regions or calendars, this Amavasya is known as Ashwin Amavasya, while in other regions or calendars, it is called Amavasya of Bhadrapada. You can get this information from the experts of your area or Panchang. This side is also called Shraddha Mahalaya.
- In various Puranas and stories, this period has been described as a time to offer gratitude to our departed ancestors.
- According to Hindu scriptures, after death, the human soul goes towards Chandralok and rises higher and reaches Pitrulok. To provide strength to these dead souls to reach their destination, rituals of Shraddha, Pind Daan and Tarpan have been made.
- According to Garuda Purana, to provide strength to the dead souls to reach Dharamraj via Yampuri, their living descendants in the earthly world offer food and water to them through Shraddha, Pinda Daan and Tarpan.
- There is a belief in Hindu religion regarding Pitru Paksha that at this time the ancestors come to earth and live around their family members in some form or the other. Even if teachers or family members die, one’s faith in them should remain constant. Therefore, at this time there is a tradition of performing Shraddha, Tarpan and Pind Daan of ancestors.
- Though the word ‘Pitra’ refers only to fathers and male, but in Shraddha, water and ‘pind’ are also offered to the deceased mother, grandmother, great grandmother i.e. the deceased mothers (female) of the family.
- In Pitru Paksha, Shraddha rituals are performed especially on the date of death of father or mother, if alive then on the date of death of grandfather or grandmother and if alive then on the date of death of great grandfather or great grandmother who have died. If father or mother has died, then Shraddha is performed for everyone together in Pitru Paksha on the date of death of the one who died later.
- Every person should perform Shraddha of his previous three generations. These three generations happen from both mother and father’s side. All the ancestors of the family are remembered by offering water along with sesame seeds along with Pind Daan. Offering water mixed with sesame seeds is called Tilanjali. Do not perform Shraddha for a living person.
- Mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother (matru-pitamahi-prapitamahi)
- Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather (pitru-pitamaha-prapitamaha)
- Maternal grandfather, great-maternal-grandfather, and great-great-maternal-grandfather (matamaha-pramatamaha-vriddhapramatamaha)
- Whenever Shraddha is performed, it is best. The more devotion you offer to your ancestors and please them, the better it is. If you are not able to pay homage daily, then you should perform Pitru Paksha Shraddha.
- If a parent has many sons and they live jointly, then the eldest son should perform the ancestral duty (Shraadha karma).
- It is a way of letting ancestors know that they are still an essential part of the family.
॥ Importance of Shraddha ॥
- Shraddha means the acts of reverence, which are performed for the happiness of deities, great men, sages, gurus and ancestors.
- This article is on Shraddha performed in Pitru Paksha. However, annual Shraddhas are also performed in which it is a ritual to show gratitude and devotion towards one’s ancestors for their blessings.
- In all these rituals, to satisfy the ancestors, along with their worship, Pind Daan (offering food) and Tarpan (offering water) are done as per Vedic rituals.
- It is believed that this Pind Daan and Tarpan reache the ancestors for whom it is done and they get satisfied and bless their clan with prosperity who performs Shraddha.
- It is believed that by performing Shraddha rituals during Pitru Paksha, the ancestors are satisfied and the debt of the ancestors is reduced.
- If the ancestors are in Pitru Yoni (those residing in the ancestral world), then the Shraddha performed here also opens the way for their liberation from the ancestral world.
- If the ancestors are in some other life, the Pind Daan and Tarpan done here make them feel satisfied in that life also. For example, you might have heard that sometimes a person is very thirsty and despite there being no possibility of finding water nearby, suddenly someone comes and gives him water to drink.
- Pinda and Tarpan are just symbols. Real dedication is due to reverence for the ancestors. This feeling becomes the medium to please ancestors, gods, sages and great men.
- Happiness and good fortune do not come from God alone. When life is dying due to the unbearable heat of the scorching sand, then only the importance of the cool area of the green earth is understood. Similarly, when life is filled with difficulties due to the inauspicious effects of planets, then the blessings of ancestors help like nectar. Believe it or not, those who enjoy the property of their ancestors and do not perform their Shraddha, such people have to face many sorrows after being cursed by their ancestors.
- As said above, happiness and good fortune do not come from God alone. Good luck is also present in this wealthy nature created by him, which is made up of five great elements. Among these elements, the earth is closest to us which is the basis of our life. In this, not only food and water but also trees and plants help us in staying alive and healthy.
- If a tree is planted in the name of one’s ancestors, then the ancestors and their clan get the blessings of thousands of animals, birds and other pastures that grow and roam in the shade of that tree.
- If faith touches the truth, then it should be considered that Shraddha (ritual for ancestors) has been blessed. The more blessings one receives from Gods, ancestors, divine souls and divine powers, the greater is the good luck. Faith is a quality that gives superiority to a person on the basis of virtue, good thoughts and excellent characteristics.
॥Shraddha and Tithi (date in panchanga)॥
In the Hindu calendar, sixteen dates of Pitru Paksha have been mentioned for Shraddha. Let us know on which date Shraddha should be performed for whom (which ancestor).
Bhadrapada Shukla Purnima
Shraddha of those who died on the full moon of any month is performed on this tithi. It is also known as Prosthapadi Purnima.
If one cannot perform Shraddha on this day, then his/her Shraddha is performed on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Ashtami, Dwadashi or Pitrumoksha Amavasya.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Pratipada
Those who died on the Pratipada of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
If there is no one in the maternal grandparent’s family to perform Shraddha or the date of their death is not known, then their Shraddha is also performed on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Pratipada.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Dwitiya
Those who died on the Dwitiya of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Tritiya
Those who died on the Tritiya of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi. It is also called Mahabharani.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Chaturthi
Those who died on Chaturthi of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Panchami
Those who died on the Panchami of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
Shraddha of those ancestors who died unmarried is also performed on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Panchami Tithi. This day is dedicated to the Shraddha of unmarried ancestors.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Shashthi
Those who died on the Shashthi of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi. It is also called Chhath Shraddha.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Saptami

If such ancestors died on the full moon day, their Shraddha is performed on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Ashtami, Dwadashi or Pitrumoksha Amavasya.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Navami
Those who died on the Navami of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
Instead of performing Shraddha according to the tithi of death of the mother, her Shraddha should be performed on Navami Tithi. Shraddha of children is performed on Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Trayodashi date.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Chaturdashi
Those who died on the Chaturdashi of Shukla Paksha or Krishna Paksha of any month, their Shraddha is performed on this tithi.
Those people who have died untimely death like due to burning by fire, injury by weapons, consumption of poison, accident or drowning in water, their Shraddha should be performed on Chaturdashi Tithi.
Bhadrapada Krishna Paksha Amavasya
Shraddha of those who died on Amavasya of any month is performed on this tithi.
On the last day of Pitru Paksha, Shraddha of known and unknown ancestors is performed on Sarvapitri Amavasya. It is also called Pitru Visarjani Amavasya or Mahalaya Completion.
